Signs are important to your marketing efforts, no doubt about it. Signs advertise your business and inform people about who you are, what you do, and where you’re located. But this isn’t the only role your signage plays in your business. Signs can also help guide people and help them navigate your facility, particularly if they are visually impaired. Signs made to help inform and guide those who may be visually impaired or who may otherwise have a difficult time reading or understanding the wording on a sign are know as ADA signs. These signs can be used for a few different things but are most commonly used to identify important rooms or areas in a facility, such as bathrooms, stairwells, emergency exits, or elevators.

    ADA Signs in You Facility

ADA signage has to meet certain standards set by regulations. For example, most ADA signage has to use high-contrast colors, include braille lettering, and be at a specific height so it’s easily readable and accessible. High-contrast colors make these signs easy to read in low light, which is important in emergency situations where lighting may be an issue, for example, a power outage. These signs can also identify important areas for first responders. For example, signs may mark fire department connections that allow the fire department to add extra water to a building’s sprinkler system.

    A Recent Project

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with a local, family-owned business, Himmelman Construction. Himmelman Construction is a general contracting firm located in Lakewood, Colorado. They provide a wide range of preconstruction and construction services across Colorado. We installed several different types of ADA and room identification signs for this client. We’re always happy to help local businesses improve their facilities.

    You Need Signage Experts

The thing with ADA signage is that it needs to meet the requirements set by the government. That means you can’t just trust anyone with this type of signage. ADA signs should be fabricated and installed by a professional team that understands those requirements and the features needed to meet them. Luckily, GraphicWorks has plenty of experience and can help you with your ADA signage needs.
